Livets träd – Trädets Liv

Vad händer när man sammanför entomologens kunskap, illustratörens blick, och textilkonstnärens kreativitet? Utställningen ”Livets träd – trädets liv” är en kunskaps- och inspirationsutställning i gränstrakten mellan kunskap och konst, med träden i centrum. 

Här kan man se tyger med mönster inspirerade av björk och tall från konstnärsduon Studio Bjarka, och akvareller av illustratören Martin Holmer ur de fyra böckerna Sälg, Asp, Björk och Tall. Dessutom finns bilder av träden i ett ovanligt perspektiv – från insidan – med röntgenbilder signerade konstnären Elisabeth Henriksson. På vernissagedagen den 2 oktober berättar vi om utställningens uppkomst och tanke, och om hur våra vanligaste träd är kan inspirera till både kunskapstörst och kreativitet.

Utställningen pågår till den 2 december. Den är ett samarbete mellan Centrum för biologisk mångfald vid SLU, Studio Bjarka, och SLU-biblioteket. Läs mer: www.slu.se/bm19

Welcome to an art exhibition!

OPENING reception Wednesday 2 October at 12:15 in the SLU University Library in Uppsala.

What happens when you bring together the entomologist's knowledge, the illustrator's eye, and the creativity of the textile artist? The exhibition "Tree of Life – Life of a Tree" is an exhibition of knowledge and inspiration, on the border of knowledge and art, with some of Sweden's most common trees in focus.

Here you can see textiles with designs inspired by birch and pine from the artist duo Studio Bjarka, and watercolor paintings by illustrator Martin Holmer from the four books about Sälg, Asp, Björk and Tall. (Salix, Aspen, Birch and Pine). In addition, there are pictures of the trees in an unusual perspective - from the inside - with x-rays by artist Elisabeth Henriksson. On the opening day of October 2, we will talk about the origin and thoughts of the exhibition, and how our most common trees can inspire both knowledge thirst and creativity.

The exhibition runs til 2 December. It is a collaboration between Swedish Biodiversity Centre at SLU, Studio Bjarka, and the SLU Library. Read more: www.slu.se/bm19
